Covid Rules update for England

Going on holiday over half term?
Since we are approaching half term and Covid rules in England have changed, we thought we would give you a brief reminder of regulations and advice as of the 11th of February.

For everyone who is fully vaccinated, you now do not need to take a COVID-19 test either before or after you arrive in the UK, however, you have to still complete a passenger locator form.

Remember the country you are visiting will have a different set of rules regarding vaccinations, Covid testing and isolation times. Rules abroad may be different according to age group, be aware of them if you are travelling with children. Regulations can quickly change so make sure you update yourself regularly, especially before your departure.

If you are planning to have a holiday in the UK over half-term, also note, there are different rules in Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland, which you will need to check beforehand.

In England, if you are not fully vaccinated, you will need to take a Covid test before you depart for your holiday abroad. After you arrive, you will need to take a PCR test on or before day 2, but you will only need to quarantine if it’s positive. You still need to complete a passenger locator form. Quarantine rules are thought to be under review and could well change before half term.Rules in England

You are no longer legally required to wear a face covering anywhere, or show an NHS COVID Pass at venues and events.

Despite rules changes, the government is suggesting voluntary guidance which includes the consideration of wearing a face covering in crowded, enclosed spaces, such as on public transport, where you may come into contact with people you do not normally meet. Several supermarkets are requesting their customers to continue to wear face coverings.

Schools
Many schools continue to report significant absences with 1 in 10 staff and 1 in 25 pupils, not in school due to Covid (DfE attendance survey). Some schools may therefore adopt rules to manage significant outbreaks.

If you are teaching YR 11 pupils who are approaching Mock exams and subsequent GCSEs, we would remind you of the impact of the disruption due to Covid and how they may be feeling in our article which you can read by clicking here https://www.operameducationgroup.com/10-things-teachers-should-know-about-current-yr-11-students/
